UK plans to build a megawatt solar roof and connect it to energy storage and electric vehicle charging
The project is based on a council-owned commercial development and is expected to be connected to a 2MW energy storage facility.
The solar panels, together with battery storage systems, will be installed on the City Council’s office building facilities

A city council on England’s south coast plans to install 4.5MW of solar and 2MW of battery storage on commercial office buildings.
Portsmouth City Council plans to complete the project on its £138 million ($173 million) lakeside North Harbour development by the summer of 2023.
This week, an article published on the council’s website said the city would install 9,900 solar panels on the roofs of five buildings and atop a car park dubbed “one of the UK’s largest solar car parks”.
The site will also install an array of lithium battery packs with a 2MW rated power storage capacity, with battery storage on-site and then providing grid services to utility national grid.
The local government said the project, which will start this fall, will also include the construction of charging points for electric vehicles
