The Kyocera Group has annouced to enter the solar power generation sector. The company announced that it plans to purchase excess PV energy from owners of rooftop PV systems in Japan and will sell the purchased electricity to companies through power purchase agreements (PPAs).

Kyocera announced that it will acquire excess PV energy from residential, industrial and commercial rooftop PV systems and floating solar arrays, and intends to resell it to small and medium-sized enterprises and large apartment complexes across Japan.
The company also said that its goal is to provide solutions for companies that want to install rooftop PV systems but face upfront costs and technical complexity challenges.
Sale of PV systems
In addition to continuing to produce solar modules at its plant in Shiga Prefecture, this Japanese manufacturer is also actively engaged in the sale of photovoltaic systems.
In its latest financial report released in July, Kyocera noted that sales of the company’s smart energy business, which includes all PV-related activities has improved.
